What's Your Why?

You make hundreds of choices that affect your health every day. Some of them are easy decisions that require little thought such as, “Should I wear my seat belt?” or “Should I wash my hands?” However, most of the choices that we face trigger multiple parts of the brain at once and require a lot of thought. For example, you’re on your way home and see that your local burger joint is offering half-price milkshakes. Your brain might think, “Should I get a milkshake? What flavor? Maybe I will only drink half of it… I had fish and veggies for lunch while everybody else had burgers and fried—I deserve it right? I did my workout this morning…”

Too many choices, too many decisions! It is exhausting and some days the half-price chocolate shake wins.

Remind Your Brain

Your body loves you for what you are doing with Fit3. Your brain, on the other hand, might be having a tough time adjusting. It is going to fight you every step of the way and try to convince you to take the easy way out (or buy that milkshake!). Strengthen your willpower by reminding yourself why you started. 

What’s Your Why?

Your “Why” is the million dollar question that only you can answer. It is the variable that will keep you motivated and get you back on track when the world is trying really hard to distract you or take you down. Do you remember your “Why?”

Why did you want to be a part of Fit3? Why did you want to improve your health? Why did you want to lose weight? Why did you want to start exercising?

Sure, your “Why” was about wanting to be healthier, but that is still superficial. If you want to stay motivated, you need to remember the root of your motivation. Many of you started Fit3 to simply feel better about yourself. That’s the “Why” that I’m talking about!

This is a good time to get out the "What's your Why" letter and reread it or update it!

Every day as you come face to face with the tough decisions, you need to ask yourself if your choice will make you feel better about yourself. Will I feel reward or will I feel regret? Nobody can answer that for you.

One of my favorite quotes is “Love yourself enough to live a healthy lifestyle.” Loving yourself and taking care of yourself is not selfish! Give yourself permission to do just that.

Now, take a moment to reflect on your “Why” and practice some self-love today.
